Mick Rock filmed and directed David Bowie's third promotional video SPACE ODDITY (5.05 minutes) in New York in December 1972 for the re-release of the "Space Oddity" single and the US re-release of "Space Oddity" / "The Man Who Sold The World" albums. The video features Bowie at a studio on acoustic guitar miming to the original 1969 "Space Oddity" backing. Mick Rock states that along with The Jean Genie (1972) and Life on Mars? (1973) film promotions, this video was produced for less than $350, shot in one day and edited in less than two days.
