Radio/TV/Film/Video Index

Recorded: 11 January 1972 - BBC Session #8
Broadcast: 28 January & 31 March 1972
Venue: Kensington House, Shepherds Bush
Producer: John F. Muir
Musicians: David Bowie, Mick Ronson, Trevor Bolder & Mick "Woody" Woodmansey

This radio show was hosted by John Peel. The songs were broadcast on 28 January 1972 and re-broadcast on 31 March 1972. The master tapes of all of the songs from this session, with the exception of "Hang Onto Yourself" - which had been transferred to a transcription disc for use on another programme - were unfortunately later wiped by the BBC. However, a good quality tape containing "Queen Bitch" and "Waiting For The Man" surfaced amongst collectors in the latter part of 1997 quickly followed by "Lady Stardust" and "Ziggy Stardust", both taken from an original cassette recording of the radio broadcast.

The four songs recorded were:

"Hang Onto Yourself"1
"Ziggy Stardust"2
"Lady Stardust" 3
"Queen Bitch"
"Waiting for the Man"

1 Included on the DAVID BOWIE BBC SESSIONS SAMPLER 1969-1972 (1996)
2 Identifiable by the lyric: "Oh He Played It Left Hand (laugh) But He Made It Too Far"
3 Identifiable by the lyrics: "Boy In The Bright Blue Jeans" and "Really Quite Outta Sight"
